A plastic surgeon has joined Trover Health System.

Dr. Garth Smith, who is board certified in plastic surgery, is relocating from Charleston Area Medical Center in West Virginia. His practice will now be located at the Center for Women’s Health, adjacent to Regional Medical Center in Madisonville.

Smith began his medical career as a doctor of medical dentistry. While completing an oral and maxillofacial surgery residency at the University of Texas School of Medicine, he obtained his doctor of medicine degree.

After completing a general surgery internship and residency, Smith began a residency in plastic and reconstructive surgery at the University of Tennessee in Chattanooga. He most recently served as the section chief of plastic surgery at Charleston Area Medical Center in Charleston, W.Va.

“Trover Health System is pleased to welcome Dr. Garth Smith,” Dr. Mark Browne, vice president of medical affairs, said in a news release. “After an extensive search for a physician in this discipline, we’ve recruited an absolute top-notch surgeon who will provide unmatched services in this specialty.”

Smith, a U.S. Army veteran, lives with his wife, Tammy.
