Trover Takes Steps to Protect Its Patients from Seasonal and H1N1 Flu

October 23, 2009

MADISONVILLE, Ky. — Trover Health System is urging the following recommendations in order to protect its patients from the spread of the seasonal flu and the H1N1 virus.

• Those visitors with signs and symptoms of the flu are asked to not come to Regional Medical Center.
• People under the age of 18 are encouraged not to visit RMC if at all possible.
• All visitors to RMC should wash or foam their hands before and after visiting.
• Visitors also should wash or foam their hands when entering the room of patients.

"It is essential that we take precautions to protect our patients and the community," said Trover Health System President and CEO E. Berton Whitaker. "Trover Health System is following the CDC guidelines for healthcare professionals. When patients enter our doors they must trust that they are entering a safe environment. With the help of conscientious guests, Trover will continue to ensure the well-being of all patients."

Last week, Trover received the first shipment of the H1N1 vaccines, which are being administered in accordance to CDC recommendations. At this time, they are only being administered to pregnant Trover patients. Others interested in receiving a shot should contact the Hopkins County Health Department. Trover hopes to receive seasonal flu vaccines later this month.
