Among the many dedicated nurses at Regional Medical Center, two have been named Nurses of the Year. They have been chosen by their peers as outstanding nurses. Tina Richardson, RN, BSN has been named "Registered Nurse of the Year" and Faye Lear, LPN has been chosen as "Licensed Practical Nurse of the Year."

Both Richardson and Lear were honored at a banquet on Friday, May 6 as part of the National Nurses' Week activities.

Richardson works on the Critical Care Unit at Regional Medical Center. She graduated from Murray State University and came to work on CCU in 1999.
"Tina is impassioned with patient advocacy," said Bonnic Brasher, Director of CCU. "She is out there every minute doing the best thing for her patients. That makes her outstanding."

"I always strive to meet high standards," said Richardson during her acceptance speech. "I don't compare myself to the weakest nurse. I compare myself to the strongest nurse."

Lear has been employed at RMC since 1985. She worked as a ward clerk in the Emergency Department before moving to Dialysis as an LPN.

"Faye Lear’s love of her job and care of her patients reflects her true dedication to nursing," said Annette Baucum, RN. "We are extremely lucky to have Faye as part of our team."

Lear addressed the crowd at the banquet: "The respect from you means so much to me...In my opinion, every one of you are nurses of the year."

"It's a wonderful thing to work with someone who's so caring about their patients," said Elizabeth Miller, Director of Dialysis.
